How afkclient.pro works
Updated October 2026 · 4 min read
An AFK client keeps a Minecraft account connected to a server without the game running. afkclient.pro runs that client on our servers and you control it from a browser. Your PC can be off, and nothing is installed.
What an AFK client is
A Minecraft connection is a network session. The normal game uses it to render the world and send your input. An AFK client keeps the session open and does only what you configure: reconnecting, running commands on a timer, sending alerts. With nothing to render, it is light enough to run many accounts at once.
It connects the way the vanilla client does and adds no combat or movement advantages. Servers still set their own rules on AFK accounts and automation, so check them before you leave a loop running.
Cloud vs self-hosted
| Cloud (afkclient.pro) | Self-hosted | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs on | Our servers | Your PC or your own VPS |
| PC must stay on | No | Yes, unless you run a VPS |
| Setup | Sign in and add an account | Install, configure and update |
| Control | Browser, any device | Depends on the tool |
| IP and proxy | Provided | You arrange it |

Architecture
Your browser talks to the dashboard. The dashboard talks to a bot process on our servers. That process holds the connection to the Minecraft server, through a proxy if one is assigned.
Each account runs in its own isolated process, so one account crashing or disconnecting does not affect the others. Closing the browser tab does not stop the process.
Get connected in 3 steps
1. Sign in with Discord
Go to afkclient.pro/login and authorise with Discord. This creates your dashboard login.
2. Add your Minecraft account
Click Add Account, then enter the one-time code at the Microsoft link shown. Java and Bedrock accounts use the same sign-in. Your password goes to Microsoft only. See Add a Minecraft account.
3. Connect to a server
Enter the server address and click Connect. Close the tab when the status shows online.
What happens when you connect
- The account uses the Minecraft version you picked for that server.
- The account signs in with Microsoft, and only asks you again if Microsoft needs it.
- The account connects, through its proxy if it has one.
- The account joins the world and stays there like a normal player.
What keeps it online
- Auto-reconnect. After a kick, restart or dropped connection the account rejoins, waiting longer after each failed attempt. A manual disconnect is never retried.
- Anti-AFK. Small head movements, jumps and arm swings stop idle-kick plugins.
- Saved settings. Scheduled commands, alerts and proxy assignment are stored with the account and restored on reconnect.
What you can do from the dashboard
- Read chat and send messages or commands.
- Manage the inventory and click through server menus.
- Run commands on a timer with the command scheduler.
- Get Discord alerts when players come near (Pro).
